Man’s Best Friend…..
Doesn’t matter what the weather, the time of the day or night our little Ink is always by my side. Man’s Best Friend…..
As a child I was brought up on a working farm in Cwmbran, South Wales. I used to spend my days pulling up docks in the fields, creosoting the fences, white washing the stables and washing out the water tanks in order to have a pony.
I obtained many other rides in my early teenage days and learnt a little from each one. Every horse was different in size, nature, ability and scope. I very quickly learnt how to achieve the very best from that individual in whatever discipline.
At the age of eighteen I headed off to West Oxfordshire carrying on my education in land management and business studies in the Thoroughbred world. During this time many doors opened,
In 1997 a vacancy at a National Hunt Trainer in Gloucestershire opened a new chapter in my life with the availability of stables and land located nearby. Confidently starting training and competing point to pointers as a hobby.
2007 I started working at The Three Counties Equine Hospital LLP. This has been the most enjoyable and rewarding place of work. I am proud to be part of a dedicated team moving forward in the Veterinary world, full of new and exciting technology to aid the equine industry.
With no horses in my life during my “brood mare” days, I can honestly say it must be a disease in the blood! It wasn’t long before I longed for some kind of “equine interest” and challenge .
Off to France to import Peyres Catori Cat in 2008 and off to Austria to collect and import Princesse Pascale in 2009!
My foundation stock to build upon, Redheart Appaloosas today.
Doesn’t matter what the weather, the time of the day or night our little Ink is always by my side. Man’s Best Friend…..

The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) created the Foundation Pedigree Designation (FPD) program is represented by the percentage of registered Appaloosa ancestors for a particular horse. As a Foundation breeder, I’m responsible to work out if an Appaloosa pedigree fulfils our criteria, there are obviously many other factors involved but one factor I adhere to is […]
Such a hopeful time of the year….. the buds are starting to appear on the trees, the wild animals are becoming more prominent as the mating season begins, the flowers are starting to bloom and the lambs have arrived. It is with great sadness I write…. Our gorgeous Ben suffered an accident in his paddock which left him with severe signs of ataxia. We are not sure what he did or how it happened, we are absolutely devastated. The decision was made for us, Ben was put to sleep this evening by the very […]
When it comes to advertising and promoting the Appaloosa, we don’t need much encouragement. Please note; A typo error for Redheart Regal – 97% not 100% FPD. Apologies. Ben’s paddock is at the back of our house, his favorite spot is between two trees where he is able to have a good scratch….he’s in the same place every morning. One call out of the bedroom window and he responds with a neigh, yes I know it means “where’s my breakfast” but none the less […]

We watched and waited for his arrival in 2015….then on the 20th January he arrived. One year later, we still pinch ourselves – he’s ours! Happy first birthday Blu x
Something lovely about black and white photographs, especially when they have Appaloosas in them! Many thanks to Ben Lovegrove (our neighbour) who very kindly took some of the following photographs. A talented future photographer… The beginning of 2017 has been the same as every New Year. Dark mornings, early dark evenings and a range of temperatures […]
