The Redheart young stock, wet, muddy and happy!
Redheart Regal, Redheart Reality and Redheart Regent, despite the elements they always make you feel less guilty leaving them out when they look so happy and content!
As a child I was brought up on a working farm in Cwmbran, South Wales. I used to spend my days pulling up docks in the fields, creosoting the fences, white washing the stables and washing out the water tanks in order to have a pony.
I obtained many other rides in my early teenage days and learnt a little from each one. Every horse was different in size, nature, ability and scope. I very quickly learnt how to achieve the very best from that individual in whatever discipline.
At the age of eighteen I headed off to West Oxfordshire carrying on my education in land management and business studies in the Thoroughbred world. During this time many doors opened,
In 1997 a vacancy at a National Hunt Trainer in Gloucestershire opened a new chapter in my life with the availability of stables and land located nearby. Confidently starting training and competing point to pointers as a hobby.
2007 I started working at The Three Counties Equine Hospital LLP. This has been the most enjoyable and rewarding place of work. I am proud to be part of a dedicated team moving forward in the Veterinary world, full of new and exciting technology to aid the equine industry.
With no horses in my life during my “brood mare” days, I can honestly say it must be a disease in the blood! It wasn’t long before I longed for some kind of “equine interest” and challenge .
Off to France to import Peyres Catori Cat in 2008 and off to Austria to collect and import Princesse Pascale in 2009!
My foundation stock to build upon, Redheart Appaloosas today.

The trees are losing their leaves and the temperatures have soared from minus one to eighteen degrees. The dark evenings illuminated by the sun, the ranging colours, seen by everyone. The dark mornings brightened by the moon, here are a few pics of our autumn in bloom 😂
There are many assumptions about breeding for colour especially with the increasing availability of equine genetics to the public. More and more “breeders” are certainly breeding for colour, evident by beautifully coloured marked foals with no obvious thought for conformation, pedigree, temperament, registrations or performance and the list can go on… No horse has perfect conformation, beauty is […]
We’ve noticed the “independence” of Ru over the last month or so and due to adlib hay and sharing her dams feed the demand for milk has reduced, just a few factors that help during weaning. Because Ru is sold, we would like her to leave the stud when we know she is ready and not […]
We subscribe to the Appaloosa Journal, this is the official publication of the Appaloosa Horse Club, the international registry for the Appaloosa horse. Each year we compete at the Appaloosa Horse Club UK National Show, each year we take part in the UK classes and USA Classes. Whilst our UK points go towards ApHC UK […]
Christmas day 2004 we entertained the “family” for lunch, about 20 of us and the food prep took a very long time, we had purchased the Cat Stevens CD and the songs played continuously. One favorite song was (and still is) Father and Son, well some of the lyrics are just so fitting here when […]
We join the many people who appreciate the beauty of sunrises and sunsets, moonlit halos and anything else Mother Nature throws at us… During the beginning of October we’ve witnessed several evenings with a red sky but to capture an image with such beauty requires Appaloosas here at the Stud! You can’t make animals in […]
Due to the Autumn “cold” making its way not only through my workplace but my household it finally got me… Although we prepared Regent for his début outing I resigned to the fact I just couldn’t do it! Here are a few shots of Regent all dressed up before being unplaited and turned back out […]
We can’t believe Her Majesty The Queen and the President, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh forgot to sign the comp slip! Such a lovely surprise in the post though! Postal surprise…
