Redheart APPALOOSA @ The May Festival 2017……

Our second outing this year, Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex, Rugby. The event was held by the United Saddlebred Association-UK and Foreign Breed Society, a European Championship Show with a programme packed with classes to suit ALL Foreign Breeds.

Todays Redheart was DFR Patahas Redheart aka Blu, our two-year-old licensed stallion. After a winter out and the Spring grass just recently, he is looking mighty fine.

The first class was Home Produced, open to pure or partbred Foreign Breeds. This class was indoors and very well supported. Blu was very settled and gave a great performance taking the second place to a beautiful Fjord.

Our second class, open Foreign Breed Youngstock, another well-supported class that resulted in a first place!

These placings qualified us for the Open Foreign Breed In Hand Championship.

Our next two classes were outside, a glorious sunny day and the testosterone certainly kicked in. With two rings running next to each other, Blu was quite interested in the goings on in the next ring? Quite a distraction for him but these things he must get used to and get over…

Our third class, Foreign Breeds with broken coats, what a mixture of beautiful horses, a fantastic second place, and our last class, Appaloosa with a free win as we were the only competitor. Disappointing but we made it our advantage, giving Blu an opportunity to have a proper good look at the ring next door!!!

These placings qualified us for the World Breeds In Hand Championships.

The Open Foreign Breed In Hand Championship & the World Breeds In Hand Championships.

These two Championships consisted of the first and second placed horses in over 16 classes.

Honored, with Reserve Champion in both classes!

Our Reserve Champion positions put us forward to the Supreme In Hand Championship.

We took the Reserve Supreme In Hand, absolutely overwhelmed!

335 Days – 2017 Foaling Count Down…..

It’s one week until Princess Pascale and Peyres Catori Cat reach their 342 (average) foaling date.

We are under no illusion they will foal next Sunday, we are not expecting them to foal on the same day just because they were inseminated on the same day. What we’re hoping for, is two safe deliveries this month or even next month?

Both mares have been in their new day and night routine for over a month, they are very much set in their new routine.

I am sure if they could open doors and gates they would walk themselves in and out!

Both mares are bagging up.

At the end of the day, the foal will decide the day.

The mares will decide the time.

The Foreign Breed Society 1st Annual……

The very first publication of the Foreign Breed Society annual is out NOW!

If you would like a copy of this interesting booklet then please contact the Foreign Breed Society.

Front cover – Jayne Brown with her Fjord, Asalla. Purebred In Hand Champion

We are very proud to see our Redheart Pascalius on the front cover.

Purebred In Hand Reserve Champion at their Championship show in 2016, a tough competition of six Champions.

The Foreign Breed classes are becoming quite common at County Shows, we are delighted to support and help promote the Society whilst representing the Appaloosa as a rare and foreign breed here in the UK.

Many congratulations to all involved, looking forward to 2017.

“Wild Card” @ High Horse….

Redheart Pascalius has done us proud again, this time competing at Rodbaston Equestrian Centre, an Open Gala show organised by the High Horse Showing Society. This successful event had the most amazing atmosphere with a huge number of competitors. The weather was glorious and Evee gave an excellent performance against quality horses.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay for the Championship due to fencing duties at home. One of the many delights of the day, being awarded a “Wild Card” to compete in an evening Championship class, we did the honourable duty of declining but what an achievement for us.

Not the “wild” day Evee had at Netley Hall a few weeks back!

Supporting The Foreign Breeds Society….

The FOREIGN BREED SOCIETY is a showing society for all Foreign Breeds in the UK.

Their shows cater for many different breeds such as Morgan’s, Percheron, Comtois, Lipizzaner, Fjords, Arab’s, Saddlebred’s, Paso Fino, Andalucian’s, Lusitano’s, Friesian’s, Falabella’s, American Miniatures and Shetlands,  Icelandic, Haflinger and of course the Appaloosa etc. The Society also include part bred’s so in a “nut shell”  the class’s are “open” or can be breed specific and offer something from the inexperienced young stock to the experienced equines covering both in hand or ridden disciplines.

So you can see why these shows appeal to us here at Redheart Appaloosas, not only do we qualify for more than one class, ensuring we gain any opportunity to improve our young horses experience but we get to meet some very interesting participants with some quite rare breeds.

Today we took Redheart Pascalius to Only Equestrian Complex for the Foreign Breeds Society Championship Horse Show. We were placed in all three classes, Foreign Breeds Youngstock, Home Produced and Appaloosa.

We qualified for the Purebred In Hand Championship and with a strong line up.

The Appaloosa took Reserve Champion behind the well deserved Champion Asalla, a Fjord.

Thank you for the photographs and congratulations to Jayne Bowen. x

May Sunshine at the May Foreign Breeds Festival….

Redheart Pascalius’s second show of 2016 at Onley Equestrian Centre, Rugby.

Lovely day at the May Foreign Breeds Festival under the United Saddlebred Association’s.

1 (12)

Being an Open Show for ALL Foreign Breeds we gathered a 4th in the Broken Coated any age or sex and we won the Appaloosa Horses & Foreign Breeds 3 years and under.

We have our work cut out for indoor showing, there is just something Evee is uneasy with? I feel her tension and we will try and over come this with more shows in doors, especially before our National Breed Shows later this year! We are not sure if it is the “echo” of the spectators, especially when they clap or the horses in the adjacent ring? None the less, Evee is three now and it’s time to grow up!

Very educational day for Redheart Pascalius during the May Sunshine at the May Foreign Breeds Festival….

Foreign and Rare……….

Today we travelled to the Royal London Show held at Onley Equestrian Centre near Rugby.

Our first visit to this show ground was five years ago, each year structural improvements have been made but this year I can honestly say the development has increased the premises to a higher standard.

The schedule offers many classes to suit the “spotted” horse, we have successfully competed Peyres Catori Cat and Princesse Pascale in earlier years but Reus doesn’t fit the criteria – No Spots.
